Mack's Monthly best bits - July

Mack's Monthly best bits (July)We are back rounding up of some of our 'best bits' from the month.... Just like a monthly favourites (which we love reading about!) but looking beyond make up and beauty products.  We'll look at our favourite days out, purchases, meals, movies....whatever made the month for us!  Some bits that are mentioned might feature in a more detailed post, but we thought it would be fun to have a quick round-up of our monthly highlights to look back on, and maybe inspire you for the month ahead....

Best discovery:  At Frankie and Benny's for dinner with May this month, I found the Bramble cocktail - a must for any gin lover out there. I don't drink much alcohol at all, but I might have the odd tipple once in a while.  It was nice to discover this refreshing citrus-based cocktail which is perfect for the hot summer evenings and was completely FREE! When I joined F&B Rewards club Frankie and Benny's club (I signed up on their homepage), I received a voucher for a free cocktail (or mocktail) amongst other offers.

Best moment: - one of my New Year's resolutions was to devote more time to looking after me. Not in a selfish way, but more in a way that I feel the fast pace of life catches up with my mind, spirit and energy levels, and I feel I have to do something about that.  I have, for one reason or another, let that resolution slip for much of this year...until this month when I treated myself a spa treatment at my local Imagine Spa (which I used to do on a regular basis). The hot stones massage was heavenly and it felt great to just press pause and take time out to relax.  I feel a Champneys spa break is on the agenda...I must see if I can convince May!

Best buys:  July has been a month of holiday preparation. Firstly, with a camping trip on the horizon in August, I have purchased a 5 person tent from the Vango range and lots of camping gear (mainly from Millets, Go Outdoors, Halfords and eBay). The reviews on tents on ukcampsite.co.uk and from Simply Hike on YouTube have been invaluable in helping me to find a tent which I think is perfect for my family.  Fingers crossed the weather holds up in August!  But if we have rain, I have raided the pocket money toys on Hawkins Bazaar (there is a great summer sale on at the moment) and prepared treat boxes for the kids to keep them occupied!  Secondly, as you may know from this post, I love Disney holidays and my family are in the midst of planning our next trip to Disneyland Paris in early 2016.  So again, we have been hunting for the best deals on hotels and transport this month (hotukdeals.com is great for tracking down discounts codes).

I know May has been busy holiday planning too.  I wonder if it is a "July" thing?
