May's Monthly Best Bits - April

This is the first in a new feature which will be a round up of some of our 'best bits' from the month.... Just like a monthly favourites (which we love reading about!) but looking beyond make up and beauty products.

We'll look at our favourite days out, purchases, meals, movies....whatever made the month for us!

Some bits that are mentioned might feature in a more detailed post, but we thought it would be fun to have a quick round-up of our monthly highlights to look back on, and maybe inspire you for the month ahead....

Favourite random purchase - these headphones from Urbanears. I usually have trouble making headphones fit as I have quite a small head but these do the job perfectly. They come in plenty of colours, are soft and comfortable to wear and were a bargain (RRP £45 but less on Amazon) compared to some others. I found that I could turn the volume up nice and loud without any noise leaking out to annoy those around me. These are the 'Plattan' model in the mulberry colour - there are others that are more sophisticated but these are just right for me. The cable has an on/off controller, although there is no volume control.

Best movie - Dior and I. I downloaded this to keep me entertained on a recent flight and was engrossed from start to finish. It is (more or less) a fly on the wall at the Dior atelier and shows what goes on behind the scenes in the creation of an haute couture collection. You see it from all angles, from the brilliant seamstresses to the marketing and the new creative director, Raf Simons. A must see if you are interested in that world.

Best beauty purchase - Garnier's Moisture+Matte daily oil-free moisturiser. This was a complete bargain at my local Sainsburys (under the £3 mark) and so far I'm loving it  BUT I have a horrible feeling it is end of line. It seems to be doing exactly what the name suggests it should - ie hydrating and controlling shine - and it has a lovely fresh green-tea scent. I'll keep trialling it and it might pop up again in a future post if it is not about to disappear off our shelves. In the meantime, grab it while you can!

Favourite clothing purchase - this skirt from Mantaray at Debenhams, £28. I picked this up during a last minute panic shop pre-holiday and am so glad I did. It fits perfectly, falls to just below the knee which I like, and is so versatile. It is a lovely jersey material which I think will be great for the warmer weather. I don't think I have ever bought anything from the Mantaray range before, but I might check what other designs they have in this style as I will definitely be wearing this a lot in summer...
