May reviews L'Oreal Infallible 24h Matte Foundation

picture of foundation I haven't tried a new foundation in a while as, along with jeans, it's one of my least favourite things to shop for.

Nonetheless, when I saw L'Oreal's new 'Infallible' offering, I took advantage of a 3 for 2 offer in Boots (it is normally priced at £7.99) and went for it.

This foundation promises '24h matte', medium texture and high coverage. I'm not sure who would need a foundation to last for 24 hours, but you never know...

I went for the colour 11 Vanilla, which seems to be the second lightest of around 6 shades. I'm usually the very lightest, so I was surprised about that.

picture of tube of foundationBeing an impatient sort, I tried this foundation out as soon as I woke up the next morning. It didn't go well. It clung to dry patches that I could have sworn didn't exist and went beyond matte, making me look tired and drawn. Great.

After a shower and a good old scrub of my face to get rid of that dry skin that had suddenly appeared from nowhere, I tried again (after moisturising and using a primer, as I usually would). This time I applied it with a brush in circular motions as suggested on the tube.

The results were definitely better. It felt lightweight enough on my skin and did even out my skin tone.  It also acted as a good base for my blusher. That said, I am not 100% convinced about its 'non-cakey' claims. Also, it didn't stop my oily t-zone needing a blot or two during the day, although it is much better on that front than many others I've tried in the past.

Having tried this foundation another few times since, I'm glad I stuck with it. I like that it comes in a plastic tube because I think that is one of the best types of packing for not wasting product.

Now that I have this I will definitely use it rather than waste it but I'm not convinced it is going onto my repurchase list. It takes a bit of work to blend in properly and won't do you many favours if you have any hint of dry skin.

  1. Thanks for the review. I was hesitant but reading your review I'd rather try something else.
