May reviews The Body Shop Cleansing Oil

picture of the body shop camomile cleansing oilWhen it comes to removing make up and cleansing my face in the evenings, I have been pretty loyal to Liz Earle's Hot Cloth Cleanse and Polish for a couple of years now, and love it. Recently, however, curiosity got the better of me and I went on an online spending spree at The Body Shop. One of the items I picked up was the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil.

The Body Shop says of this:

"This silky-soft cleanser will effortlessly remove make-up from the whole face quickly and effectively, leaving skin feeling clean, refreshed and clear of impurities. It’s the ultimate time-saver.
  • Removes make-up
  • Suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers
  • Removes waterproof make-up
  • Leaves skin feeling clean and refreshed"

As an added bonus, apparently the camomile oil and water come from family farms who are in The Fens of East Anglia - just down the road from Mack and me!

Once I had gotten over the fear of putting oil onto my oily/ combination skin, I followed the instructions and put this to the test by not taking any of my makeup off beforehand (including waterproof mascara, eyeliner, smoky brown eyeshadow and a full face of foundation).

I soon discovered that one pump (I love a pump bottle!) is all that I need to do the job. I applied the oil to my dry skin, eyes and all, and enjoyed the mini-massage needed to make sure it got to work. I then removed the product with a hot damp flannel (I prefer this to a muslin cloth, even when using Liz Earle). It certainly looked like all my makeup had gone. I did a quick test with some toner on cotton wool and was amazed to see absolutely NO trace of make up at all. Even the waterproof mascara had completely gone.

My skin felt lovely and soft after using it, and certainly did not feel as tight or 'parched' as it can do after using some cleansers.

This product certainly does what it is supposed to do. The scent is pleasant, the oil is gentle on your skin and I will always enjoy cleansers that require you to use a hot flannel - so relaxing! I have not suffered from any breakouts resulting from using this cleanser and think I might just about be over my fear of oil-based products.

At £10 for 200ml, which will last a LONG time, this is very well priced cleanser that definitely removes the need for an eye make up remover. I am impressed!

A couple of months further on and I am still happily using this. It is my go-to 'one step' product that really performs well, quickly and with minimal effort. On even the laziest of days I manage to use this without too much moaning. I will have to see whether I still use this in the summer, but for now at least it is a new favourite!
