May reviews Caudalie SOS Thirst-Quenching Serum

There’s no denying the fact that (even at my ripe old age) I have oily skin.  I hadn’t realised though, until a lovely lady pointed it out during a facial, that I also had some patches which were quite dehydrated.

When I got home after the facial, I was determined to find something to solve the problem. I remembered that I had received a sample of Caudalie’s Vinosource SOS Thirst-Quenching Serum in a Glossybox a few months previously and just chucked it in the ‘yeah, I don’t need that’ pile.  To cut a long story short, I’m now on my third repurchase of the full size version and don’t ever want to be without it.

Caudalie say “A moisturizing bubble: The S.O.S Thirst-Quenching Serum continuously captures and diffuses water deep within the skin to restore its moisture balance and leave it feeling soft and fresh. Apply morning and evening to a cleansed face and neck. Avoid the eye contour. Non-comedogenic”.

I use it most nights after cleansing and before applying a night cream and (though I hadn’t realised I even needed it) it has made my skin feel so much smoother, more plump and generally healthier. It does not make the oiliness worse and has never – touch wood – broken me out like I had assumed it would. It has a milky consistency, sinks in easily and my moisturiser still applies well over it. I have also noticed that my foundation seems to apply more smoothly the following morning.

It’s not a budget buy, but it feels like it is doing all sorts of good and I find that I only need one tiny pump at a time so a bottle does last a fair few months.  A definite thumbs up from me.

A quick note from Mack: I received the same Caudalie sample in a previous Glossybox and I am afraid it was not for my oily skin which needs no extra help with restoring moisture, but instead needs help controlling oil. I do get the odd dehydrated patch if I have over-used a product for spots and blemishes but I tend to use sheet masks to help with that (see the My Beauty Diary sheet mask post).  At the end of the day, we will pick our own preferred beauty methods and products, and that is what is great about choice in the beauty products market.  But a thumbs up from me for this Caudalie product too as May, your skin does looks great!
